Free adult accounts, organisation connections and text contributions
Version: adult-free-2026-10-27-v1
1. The service and operator
These Terms cover your free adult Joournals account, requests to connect to a school or organisation, and text contributions submitted through Joournals. The operator is UTDANNINGSKONSULENTENE AS, Norwegian organisation number 935 934 915, Nattlandsveien 21, 5093 Bergen, Norway.
Support and content concerns: hello@joournals.com
Privacy requests: privacy@joournals.com
Creating this free account does not buy a subscription or authorise a charge. These Terms do not promise access to features that have not been made available to your account.
2. Your account
Self-registration is for adult educators and organisation representatives. Provide an email address you control, complete email verification and give accurate information. Keep your password and sign-in session private. Do not share an account or use another person’s account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been misused.
You remain responsible for your own actions through the service. You must not impersonate another person or organisation, claim authority you do not have, or try to bypass access controls.
3. Connecting to an organisation
A registration, organisation request or membership request does not give administrator rights or establish that you own or represent an organisation. Requests remain pending until reviewed. Access depends on the approved organisation, membership role and status. You must have a genuine connection to any organisation you ask to join and authority for actions you take on its behalf.
If you propose another adult as an organisation administrator, use an appropriate contact address and tell that person that you are providing it to Joournals for this purpose. They must complete their own verified adult account setup. Joournals still reviews the organisation and the proposed administrator; entering their address grants no access. Your own membership is reviewed separately if you are someone else.
Organisation administrators should approve ordinary members only after checking their connection to that organisation. Do not approve your own request or try to promote someone through an ordinary membership request. If a connection ends or a decision appears wrong, contact hello@joournals.com so access can be reviewed.
4. Community guidelines
Use Joournals for educational exchange and the common good, with respect for people, diversity, independence and the environment, consistent with Montessori principles.
Describe activities honestly. Credit the work of others appropriately without exposing personal details. Do not submit harassment, discriminatory abuse, threats, unlawful content, confidential records or misleading claims. Do not use the service for unsolicited advertising, bulk messaging or attempts to disrupt it.
Protect privacy. Use the school or organisation and country for public attribution. Do not include personal contact details, individual names, confidential information or details that identify a child or another person in the text. An age-group or school-stage description can provide educational context without naming individuals. Do not upload permission forms, class lists or identity records as evidence.
Report a content or access concern to hello@joournals.com. For a concern about personal data, use privacy@joournals.com. Describe the relevant contribution or issue without sending additional sensitive information.
5. Publishing guidelines and permissions
Submit only text that you are authorised to share on behalf of the connected school or organisation. You must hold, or have permission to exercise, the rights needed for the proposed publication. Check the text for private information and third-party rights before submission. Review by a school administrator or Joournals does not replace your organisation’s responsibility to check its authority and permissions.
You and the relevant rights holders keep ownership of your text. By submitting it with authority on behalf of the organisation, you give Joournals a non-exclusive permission to store and reproduce it for review and to display the approved version on Joournals with the organisation’s attribution. This permission is limited to operating the contribution service and ends for public display when the contribution is withdrawn or removed. Private handling of earlier revisions and review records follows the Privacy notice and applicable law. This is not a transfer of copyright or permission for unrelated advertising or sale of the text.
Before each submission, you must actively confirm both your authority/permissions and compliance with the community guidelines. These confirmations apply to the saved contribution version being submitted. They are your declaration; they are not an independent verification by Joournals or a general consent on behalf of other people.
6. Review, revisions and withdrawal
An authorised organisation reviewer reviews the submitted version first. Joournals then reviews it before public publication. Submission does not guarantee publication. We may decline publication or ask you to revise text to address a specific concern.
Changing a contribution creates a new draft revision and removes any earlier version from the current public contribution response. The revised version requires fresh confirmations and review before publication. Approval of an earlier revision does not approve the new text.
You may withdraw your own contribution through the available withdrawal action. It is then excluded from Joournals’ public contribution response. If you cannot use that action, contact hello@joournals.com. Withdrawal does not guarantee removal of third-party copies or by itself delete private review records. Privacy rights remain available as described in the Privacy notice.
7. Protecting the service and handling concerns
We may limit access or remove material when reasonably necessary to address misuse, a security risk, an authority dispute, unlawful content or a breach of these Terms. We will give the reason and an opportunity to contact us about the decision where practicable, unless doing so would be unlawful or compromise security or another person’s rights. A technical access refusal can also result from an unverified account or pending, revoked or suspended access; contact us if you think it is incorrect.
We aim to keep the service usable but cannot promise uninterrupted availability. Keep a copy of important text you submit. This paragraph does not remove rights or remedies that applicable law gives you.
8. Leaving and privacy
You can stop using the service or ask hello@joournals.com to close your account. If you want a contribution withdrawn, withdraw it or identify it in your request. Account closure and contribution withdrawal are separate from the assessment of what personal data must be deleted or lawfully retained. The Privacy notice explains the data we use and your rights. Accepting these Terms is not consent to optional analytics or marketing.
9. Changes and disputes
We will identify the current version of these Terms and explain material changes before asking you to use a materially changed service. We will not treat these Terms as authorisation to activate charges or unrelated optional processing.
Please first contact hello@joournals.com about a service or content dispute. Nothing in these Terms restricts mandatory consumer rights, privacy rights, access to a competent regulator or the remedies and courts available to you under applicable law.
