For a group of adolescents at Blue Blocks Montessori School in India, that question became a very real challenge.

Their goal was not simply to learn about rockets, satellites or space exploration. They were working towards something much more ambitious: developing a real experiment for Project SBB-1, a CubeSat mission that would eventually carry their work beyond Earth.

The project demanded collaboration, patience and persistence. Designing something for a space mission meant testing ideas, reconsidering decisions, learning from mistakes and improving the work again and again.

These weren't questions from a textbook with answers waiting on the next page.

The answers had to be discovered.

Project SBB-1 was led by Pavan Goyal, founder of Blue Blocks Montessori School, as Principal Investigator, while the adolescents took part in the process of turning an extraordinary idea into a real experiment.

Project SBB-1 illustrates what can happen when adolescents have the opportunity to work towards an ambitious, real-world goal and discover what they need to learn along the way.

It started with a question.

Then came the ideas, experiments, mistakes, discoveries and prototypes.

And eventually, the countdown reached zero.
