Sometimes a simple conversation can stay with a child in unexpected ways. After talking together about people around the world, one four-year-old had something she wanted to draw.

Sometimes a simple conversation can stay with a child in unexpected ways. After talking together about people around the world, one four-year-old had something she wanted to draw.

Today, we talked about how people around the world may look different, speak different languages and live in different ways while still having many things in common.

Afterwards, one of our five-year-olds chose to make a drawing: children in all the colours of the rainbow, holding hands.

When she explained her picture, she put the whole conversation into her own words:

“They are all different, but they can all be friends.”

A small moment, perhaps, but one we thought was worth sharing.
